All my AeroPresses have been lying fallow since staying espresso mode with the Cafelat Robot or Espresso Forge pulling Americanos
If I need a quick cup I usually go for my Ceado Hoop or less so Aeropress Premium
Jonathan Gagné's AeroPress recipe https://aeroprecipe.com/recipes/jonathan-gagneAll that has changed now with soup - that medium range somewhere between Espresso, Americano and the clearer filtered cups.
Research
I have a OXO Rapid Brewer on order but
I finally tried soup on the Aeropress Premium with Lance Hendrick's Aeropress Recipe: Zuppa Lunga https://youtu.be/xrKsjy7nh8Y?si=IB_yrRt3Kh7WS64A&t=726
after some research on this great origin history tracecback with Daddy Got Coffee https://youtu.be/CbC08gHDXG0?si=w07RvqVK5kPlxRH5
linking to the detailed Espresso Aficionados discord server guide https://espressoaf.com/guides/orb_soup.html that really geeks out on the initial soak and overall soup process
and
Brian Quan's notes on crema clouding the soup taste https://youtu.be/0tfQ7K-ec_g?si=HBQuLpjEGFKUpDdm
actually pairs well with the
JoePresso https://www.joepresso.com/ for restriction
Steps
- Recipe is 10:1
- 150 ml + 15 g medium roast Peruvian
- cup 1 was 500 burr gap on the Lido OG https://www.orphanespresso.com/lido-og-manual-coffee-grinder.html
- cup 2 600 burr gap
notes:
- more acid on 500 than coarser 600
- harder to press for both, like uh I need 2 limbs or crank on one
- I think I prefer more citrus at 500 and I am a dark chocolate Americano drinker
- This is now my go-to AeroPress recipe
- And my go-to for light and medium roast coffee and I usually prefer medium to dark roasts
It would be interesting to compare soup results when the OXO Rapid Brewer gets delivered
